AP Literature & Composition

Master Vocabulary List

Study ten words per week with your groups, to be quizzed each Friday.

Quizzes will be as follows: I will pronounce a word and you will spell it correctly and use it in a sentence with context clues to help define it further.

It is recommended that you know the part(s) of speech (words can act as more than one part of speech) as well as the meaning. When you write your sentences, you may use the word in various forms, e.g., adjective, noun, adverb, etc., as long as you are using the word correctly.

Each week there will be a new word list; you will practice using the words in conversation as well as in your writing (along with being quizzed).

Why these words? Great question! They have been garnered from past AP exams, from both the writing prompts and the multiple choice.
